KIPC Trust for the 2018 Competition

KIPC Trust is a charitable trust funded by corporate and private financial donors. NZ’s most acclaimed concert pianist, Michael Houstoun, has been the Competition’s patron from 1987 to 2018. The Trust’s primary purpose is to provide competition experience at an international level for young talented artists.


Sylvia Burch – Sylvia has a wide range of experience in education, educational administration and management, and project management. She also has a 40 year association with amateur and professional music. Sylvia may be contacted on chair@kipc.nz


John Jackets – John has experience in concert promotion and event management both in New Zealand and internationally. John is also Musical Director of the Bay of Islands Singers. John may be contacted on events@kipc.nz


Tony Norman – Tony’s skills include strategic thinking, financial restructuring, organisational change and negotiation skills. These business disciplines give a solid foundation to a community activity such as KIPC. Tony is a professional financial manager and manages the day to day and strategic financial running of the Trust. Tony may be contacted on treasurer@kipc.nz


Sally Macauley – Sally is a Councillor of the Far North District and Chairman of the Northland District Health Board. She is also Chairman of the Bay of Islands Arts Festival. Sally is a Justice of the Peace and a Marriage Celebrant. Interests include classical and popular music and outdoor pursuits.


Jill Cottle – Jill is a registered music teacher and much respected for her work in the community with young pianists and as an accompanist.

Jane Jackets – Jane has worked in various levels of education and has experience in organising function hospitality. Brought up in a family of professional musicians, she has a long association with music performance. She is the KIPC Friends coordinator.

Ann Winship – Ann is from California where she was a school teacher and artist. In 2014, she was a prime mover in the launch of KOAST, Kerikeri Open Art Studios Trail which aims at enhancing the reputation of Kerikeri as a destination for the Arts.

Gill Hughes – Gill is a publicist with 15 years of experience working within the book publishing industry and more recently within the Arts, working on the Bay of Islands Arts Festival. Gill can be contacted on hughespublicity@gmail.com
